Who are we?

The friends of the Deptford Free Public Library is a group of families, patrons, volunteers who are committed to strengthening the library through contributions, membership, etc. Members of this group appreciate the role that a library plays in society and aims to do their best to strenghten that role through their support. Our members see the Deptford Free Public Library as more than a place with a lot of books but a place where patrons gather together to learn about each other, their interests, and their community.

What do we do?

The Friends of the Deptford Free Public Library assist in building and strengthening support for the library. Our members also aid in making the community aware of the many services that the library has to offer. We also raise money through daily booksales and events to purchase equipment for the library. Examples of things we have bought are benches and flowers for outside, a DVD player for the meeting room, and decorations for the library during the holidays, etc.

How do I join?

You can become a member by coming into the library and filling out a membership form. Membership fees are as follows: Individual: $5.00, Family: $10.00, Patron: $25.00, and Benefactor: $50.00.

When do we meet?

Our meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm.

Thank You's from the Friends of the Library:

The Friends of the Deptford Free Public Library planted a tree near our park benches this month in memory of Former Friends of the Library Treasurer, Charlie Tanger. We hope our patrons will enjoy the tree and its shade in the upcoming years.
